CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College women's volleyball team swept Luther College 3-0 in its American Rivers Conference opener at Kohawk Arena on Tuesday evening. The Kohawks wasted no time, taking the opening set 25-5, holding Luther to one kill while hitting .733 with zero errors. The hosts continued to click in the second set, hitting .548 en route to a 25-11 decision. The sweep was wrapped up with a closer battle in set three but the Koahwks pulled out a 25-18 win to clinch. Coe has now hit over .330 in three straight matches and over .400 in two of its last three.

- Coe built a 9-2 lead from the jump in set one, getting a long run of serves from Bella Rio. Maddie Harris ripped off another long stretch later in the frame as Coe scored 10 unanswered points to take a 19-4 lead. The Kohawks scored the set's final five points, getting a block from Maddy Maahs and Maggie Furlong during the run. The hosts scored the first four in set two, getting two kills from Gracie Urbatsch and one from Kelsey Hansel. The Norse clawed back to make it 6-3 but another long serving run from Harris gave Coe a 15-5 advantage. The Kohawks maintained the advantage for the rest of the period and scored four straight as Tessa Casebolt slammed the set-winning point. The hosts raced out to another early lead in the third, taking a 12-5 advantage to set the stage. Luther hung tough and pulled within seven of the lead but Coe saw out the final few points and secured the sweep. Maddy Maahs had 35 assists marking her third match in a row with an average of over 10 assists per set. Hansel had a team-high 12 kills and registered a double-double, chipping in 11 digs on the defensive side.
