CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College football team faced its toughest test of 2024 on Saturday afternoon at Clark Field but kept its unbeaten record intact, defeating Central College 16-13 in double overtime. The Kohawks, picking up their second overtime victory of the season, traded field goals with the Dutch in regulation as both defenses showed their prowess throughout. Overtime brought the fireworks with both teams scoring in the opening frame, forcing a second OT period. Coe's defense stepped up to the challenge in the second time of asking, limiting the Dutch to a 26-yard field goal to set up the offense. The Kohawk offense completed the job on the following possession as senior quarterback
Clay Krousie connected with
Jeron Senters in the right corner of the endzone for a game-winning score from 22 yards out. Coe's defense wreaked havoc from the opening whistle, holding the Dutch to just 225 yards of total offense and 2.1 yards per carry.
Sam Shaw had a team-high nine tackles while
Alex Aitchison had three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. Senters finished with a game-high 105 yards and one touchdown on five catches while
Trenton Barnes paced the rushing attack with 127 yards on 36 carries.

GAME FACTS
- Both offenses struggled throughout the opening quarter, trading scoreless possessions. The Dutch threatened on their next drive, moving the ball inside the redzone before a huge interception from Mitchell Eckardt gave the ball back to the Kohawks. Krousie and the offense capitalized, marching 73 yards in 14 plays before settling for a Julian Garcia Ayala field goal from 28 yards out. Neither team scored in the second quarter as the defenses continued to shine, allowing just a total of seven first downs in the period. Central scored the lone points of the third quarter, taking advantage of two crucial Kohawk penalties to tie the game at three with a 38-yard kick. Coe had the final chance in regulation, taking over with 1:10 left in the game. After Krousie handed to Barnes on first down he connected with Senters on second, finding the sophomore for a 52-yard strike to set up the Kohawks in field goal territory. Coe had a chance to win it in regulation, kicking a 30-yard field goal as time expired but the kick sailed wide right. Krousie got the Kohawks started in overtime, scampering for a 17-yard score to give Coe a 10-3 lead. Central responded, knotting the game at 10 with a six-yard passing touchdown on a crucial third down. The Dutch had the first chance of the second OT period but failed to capitalize, settling for a 26-yard field goal to go up 13-10. The Kohawk offense struck on their second play of double OT as Krousie delivered a perfect strike to Senters in the right corner of the end zone for the walk-off victory.
