CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College women's volleyball team bounced back from an opening-set defeat to UD on Wednesday evening, responding with three-straight set victories to knock off the Spartans 3-1. The Kohawks hit .310 in the victory and held the visitors to just 35 kills and a .077 attacking percentage. UD got off to a solid start, edging Coe 25-23 in the first set as the visitors staved off a late comeback effort from the hosts. The Kohawks responded in the second set, claiming an easy 25-18 victory to knot the match. Coe rode the momentum in the following two sets, securing the win with a 25-10 decision in the third and a 25-14 victory in the fourth.
Gracie Urbatsch, Maggie Furlong and
Tessa Casebolt each hit double-digit kills in the win while
Maddy Maahs had 52 assists.
Kelsey Hansel, Bella Rio, Maahs, Furlong and
Maddie Harris all had 10-plus digs defensively and Urbatsch had a team-high four block assists.

- UD got off to a solid start in the opening set, fighting back and forth with Coe before stealing the lead. The Kohawks quickly answered, ripping off a six-point stretch in the second set en route to the 25-18 win. Urbatsch had a team-high four kills in the period while Furlong and Casebolt chipped in with three each. The Kohawks had their best offensive set of the match in the third period, hitting .412 with 16 kills and two errors. Urbatsch again led the attacking effort, racking up five kills on nine swings as Coe went up 2-1. The hosts finished the job in the fourth set, staying hot on offense with a .316 attack percentage. Kelsey Hansel and Urbatsch posted a team-high four kills in the frame, combining for the final two points of the contest.
