LISLE, Ill. – The Coe College women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to five matches on Saturday afternoon, defeating Marian University 3-2 before a 3-0 sweep of host school Benedictine. The Kohawks were tested in their opening match of the day, falling behind Marian 2-1 after the third set. Coe responded and won the fourth set 25-22 before a clinching 15-11 decision in the final set. Coe hit a match-high .333 in the final period, racking up 12 kills en route to the victory. The Kohawks rode the momentum in their second match of the day, coming out on fire against Benedictine. Coe cruised to an early 1-0 lead thanks to 25-17 set one decision and capped off the sweep with a 25-22 win in set two and a 25-20 victory in the third. The Kohawks limited the Eagles to a .130 attack percentage, forcing 20 errors in three sets.

- Marian was on unstoppable in the opening set, racing to an early 1-0 lead with an impressive .425 hitting percentage. Coe responded and tied the match, taking advantage of seven attacking errors from the opposition to take a 25-19 decision in the second. The back-and-forth action continued in the third with Marian regaining a lead, hitting .351 with 16 kills and three errors. Coe regrouped in the fourth set and managed to tie the match, racking up 15 kills en route to a 25-22 victory. The Kohawk attack was led by Gracie Urbatsch and Kelsey Hansel in the period, posting four kills each. Coe turned up the pressure late in the final set, separating from Marian with five of the final seven points to claim a 15-11 victory. Hansel finished the match with a team-high 16 kills while Maggie Furlong (15) and Urbatsch (14) were close behind.

- The Kohawks raced out to an early lead in the second match of the day, taking a 6-2 advantage before a quick timeout. Coe continued to control the period, extending the lead to five at 14-9. Benedictine fought back and closed the gap to three but the Kohawks exploded past the finish line with five straight to end the set. The score was tighter in set two, trading points for much of the match. The Kohawks pulled away late as the score was tied at 20, scoring five of the final seven points to go up 2-0. Coe again used a late push in the final set, staving off a comeback effort from the Eagles with four of the final six points. Urbatsch led the Kohawk attacking effort in the sweep, tallying 11 kills while five other players had at least three kills.
