CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College Clay Target team is more than a group of student-athletes who share a passion for target shooting and competition, emphasizing philanthropy and bettering the community around them. This fall, Coe Clay Target exemplified community spirit by raising over $2,500 for local charities through a series of fundraising events. "I don't ever recall working with a team that was more community-minded than this group," said head coach
Patrick Cory. "The culture of this team caring about service and community that was started 5 years ago is continuing to flourish with every year." The team started their efforts on September 28 with an auction featuring enticing items like gift baskets, a custom corn hole set, and a two-day guided hunt. Their work continued with a benefit shoot on October 26, bolstered by the generous support of the Izaak Walton League of Linn County and the Kennedy High School Student Government. The Izaak Walton League contributed all the targets, while the Student Government purchased prizes, ensuring every dollar raised went directly to the Iowa Paralyzed Veterans of America. This annual initiative showcases the program's commitment to giving back and strengthening community ties.
