DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Coe College football team stayed unbeaten for the 2024 season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Loras College 43-10 in its first American Rivers Conference road game of the year. The Kohawks raced out to an early lead, scoring a pair of first-quarter touchdowns as
Slade Huerta and
Trenton Barnes found the endzone. Coe put 15 more points on the board in the second quarter as Barnes hit pay dirt two more times while the defense picked up a safety to make it 29-3 at the break. The visitors added to their lead in the fourth quarter as
Clay Krousie rushed for his fourth score of the year.
Andrew White capped off the big win for the Kohawks, scoring the final touchdown to make it 43-10. Coe's defense stood out once again, holding the Duhawks to just 294 total yards and a 2.2 rushing average while picking off three passes and forcing one fumble.

- The Kohawk defense showed up from the opening whistle, picking off the opening pass of the game to turn it over to the offense. The O shook off a slow start to the game with a long scoring drive late in the first, marching 73 yards on seven plays before Krousie found Huerta for six. The signal caller hit Huerta along the right sideline before the tight end sprinted past the Duhawk defenders for the opening score. Barnes found the big play on Coe's next drive, cashing in for a 31-yard score moments after the defensive forced fumble. Barnes scored for the second time early in the second quarter, adding six from 12 yards out to cap off a 10-play, 69-yard drive. Coe's defense put the next score on the board on the ensuing drive, forcing a three-and-out before recording a safety on the punt try. Barnes completed the hat trick later in the frame, extending Coe's lead to 29-0 with a two-yard score. Loras broke the shutout before the end of the second quarter, kicking a 21-yard field goal with less than 10 seconds on the first-half clock. The Kohawks opened the scoring in the second half early in the fourth quarter with Krousie finishing off a nine-play, 84-yard drive with a seven-yard score. Loras pulled one score back on the following drive, taking advantage of a pass interference call deep in Coe's territory. White put the final cherry on the cake with just over five minutes left in the game, finding the endzone with a five-yard rush up the middle. Kyle Kingsbury capped off the day defensively, ending a final scoring chance for Loras with the third pick of the game.
