INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Coe College women's volleyball team continued climbing the American Rivers Conference standings with another victory on Friday evening, defeating the Simpson College Storm 3-1. The Kohawks, who extended their current winning streak to three, cruised to an early 2-0 lead in the match and bounced back after dropping the third set to secure the victory. The Kohawk attacking effort was balanced, getting at least seven kills from five players.
Maggie Furlong and
Gracie Urbatsch led the group, posting 15 and 11 kills each while
Maddie Harris, Kelsey Hansel and
Tessa Casebolt had nine, eight and seven kills.
Maddy Maahs had 41 assists in the victory as she directed the offense while Hansel and
Bella Rio had a team-high 14 digs.

- Coe started slow in the opening set, falling behind 9-4 as the Storm ripped off a three and four-point stretch to go in front. The Kohawks fought back and tied the match at 10, scoring six of the next seven points to get back into it. Coe went on to pull out the victory in the opening set, fending off a late charge from the Storm. It was a better start for the Kohawks in the second period, building an early 10-4 lead. Coe managed the lead throughout the rest of the set, claiming a 25-18 victory while holding Simpson to just 11 kills. The hosts battled back in the third period, responding with a strong 25-19 victory as the Storm hit .262 with 14 kills and only three errors. The Kohawks handled business in the fourth and final set, hitting a match-high .311 with 15 kills and one error.
