DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Coe College women's basketball team suffered a defeat to no. 8 UW-Oshkosh on Friday night in the 2024-25 season opener, falling 64-55 to the Titans in a neutral site matchup hosted by Loras College. The Kohawks and Titans were neck-and-neck in the opening quarter, trading blows throughout. Oshkosh pulled ahead before the halftime break, outscoring Coe 17-13 in the second period to take a 29-23 lead into the locker room. The Titans continued to push their lead in the third quarter, hitting four 3s while holding Coe to just five field goals. UWO led 51-38 heading into the final period but Coe continued to fight, edging the Titans 17-13 in the final quarter despite falling short in the contest.
Ellie Wisner was Coe's lone player to reach double figures, scoring 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
Quinn Grubbs was second on the squad with nine points game while
Taylor Brunson had a team-high eight rebounds.

GAME FACTS
- Oshkosh opened with six straight points to begin the game, getting an early 3 during the run. Coe battled back and pulled within three of the lead, getting a 5-2 stretch that included a bucket from Grubbs to make it 10-7. Grubbs hit the final shot of the quarter after UWO had regained a five-point lead, cashing in a 3 to make it 12-10 after one. The Kohawks started the second quarter well, getting a game-tying bucket from Wisner and a go-ahead 3 from freshman Josie Gehrke. The Titans settled into the quarter and began to trade punches with Coe, tying the score at 20 near the midway mark of the period. UWO began to take advantage of some Kohawk turnovers later in the second, scoring seven unanswered points before the two-minute mark. Wisner broke the drought for the Kohawks on a 3 ball with less than one minute left in the half but Oshkosh got a pair of free throws for the final points of the frame, taking a 29-23 lead to the break. Coe hung tough in the opening minutes of the second but Oshkosh came to life with three consecutive long-distance jumpers to quickly extend the lead to 13. The Kohawks slowly clawed back after a timeout, getting within 10 points later in the period but Oshkosh managed to take a 51-38 lead to the final quarter. The Titans put the finishing touches on the matchup early in the fourth quarter, pushing the lead to 17 within the first two minutes. Coe continued to force the issue despite the deficit, getting to within nine before the final whistle.
