CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College women's basketball team won its 10th straight game on Tuesday evening, defeating North Central College 74-58 at Kohawk Arena. Coe, which clinches its best start in program history, shook off a slow opening half and dominated the final two quarters en route to the victory. The Kohawks trailed 36-34 at the halftime break but held the Cardinals to 12 points in the third and 10 in the fourth quarter, relying on a strong defensive effort to set the tone. Offensively, Coe shot 14-of-27 from the floor in the second half and got 15 points from
Taylor Brunson who paced the team with 24 points.
Caydee Kirkham was close behind with 21, shooting 7-of-19 from the floor and 3-of-7 from beyond. Freshman forward
Audire Helmrichs recorded her first career double-double, scoring 10 points while pulling down 20 rebounds, the second-highest single-game total in program history.
Ellie Wisner was the fourth Kohawk in double-figures, scoring 15 points in an efficient effort as she was 4-of-7 from the floor and 6-of-6 at the line.

GAME FACTS
- The hosts started strong in the opening quarter, scoring 15 of the opening 22 points in the game as Kirkham (6) and Brunson (5) combined for 11 early points. North Central closed the gap before the end of the period, using a 13-6 run to pull within one point at 21-20. It was back and forth in the second quarter but both teams struggled to find the mark, combining for 29 points and just 10 field goals. The Cardinals slightly edged the Kohawks before the end of the first half, scoring five of the period's final seven points to take a 36-34 lead at the break. Coe controlled the first five minutes of the third quarter, ripping off a 14-4 run featuring points from five players. The defense stood strong during the run, holding North Central to just 1-of-6 shooting. North Central slowed Coe's momentum and kept it close before the end of the third, outscoring the hosts 8-7 to make it 55-48 before the quarter whistle. The Kohawks put the game away in the first six minutes of the final quarter, using a strong 12-4 to put the game out of reach. Wisner helped ice the game, scoring seven points during the stretch including a clinching 3 with 4:03 to play.
