CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's basketball team is set for the opening round of the 2024 American Rivers Conference tournament, hosting sixth-seeded Luther College on Tuesday, February 20 at 7 PM at Kohawk Arena. The third-seeded Kohawks secured the home game with a crucial road win at the University of Dubuque last week, completing the season sweep over the Spartans with an impressive 71-70 win overtime. The win featured a late fourth-quarter comeback from the Kohawks, erasing an eight-point deficit late in the final period to force overtime. Coe, which won 20 games for the first time since 2011-12, picked up a pair of wins over Luther during the regular season, averaging a 22-point margin in the victories. Coe's first win over Luther came on January 3 in Decorah, defeating the Norse 72-44 as
Caydee Kirkham scored a game-high 21 points.
Kaalyn Petersen added 14 points and recorded a double-double, pulling down 11 boards including six on the offensive glass. The second matchup of the year came in Cedar Rapids where the Kohawks defeated Luther 72-56, using a dominant third quarter to ease past the visitors. Kirkham again hit the 20-point mark, scoring 22 to lead all players. The quarterfinal matchup is also a rematch from the 2023 A-R-C tournament when the teams played in the 4/5 contest, with Luther edging Coe 70-64 at Kohawk Arena. The game, scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 20 at 7 PM, has tickets available for purchase at Kohawk Arena or can be followed along using the live stream and live stats on KohawkAthletics.com.
