Coe Women's Tennis Spring Break results recap

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Coe College women's tennis team concluded its Spring Break trip last week, wrapping up a slate of four non-conference matches at the Spring Tennis Fest. The Kohawks took on some tough opponents during the trip, facing LeTourneau, Greenville, East Texas Baptist and Rhodes. Despite falling in all four matches, the Kohawks found success throughout. Coe managed at least two team points in all four contests and was narrowly defeated in three of four matches. Sophia Fain was the team's top singles play, posting a perfect 4-0 record with three victories in straight sets. 
 
LETOURNEAU 5 - COE 3
Game Facts
  • LeTourneau picked up an early advantage in the match, claiming two of three doubles contests as Maddie Schultz and Sophia Fain secured Coe's lone point with an 8-3 win at number two. Schultz and Fain went on to win again in singles, earning the remaining points for the Kohawks with a 6-4, 6-1 decision and number one and a 7-6, 6-2 victory at number two. 
 
GREENVILLE 5 - COE 4
Game Facts
  • Greenville swept the doubles competition in the second match of the trip to race ahead. The Kohawks battled back in singles and nearly pulled off the comeback, winning four of six matches to draw within one. Sophia Fain, Maria Bello Escobar, Jaden Fuqua and Chloe Palmer all earned victories despite the narrow loss. 
 
EAST TEXAS BAPTIST 6 - COE 3
Game Facts
  • The Tigers edged Coe in doubles for a 3-0 advantage in the match, winning with relative ease at number one and two before barely squeaking past Alliandra Hagness and Chloe Palmer at the number three spot. 
 
RHODES 7 - COE 2
Game Facts
  • The Lynx took a commanding lead in doubles play, sweeping the opening competition to go up 3-0. The Kohawks fought back in singles and battled, earning a pair of wins at number two and number six singles with Sophia Fain and Carlie Miller securing singles victories. 
 
Up Next: The Kohawks are back at home for their next match, hosting Truman State University on Sunday, March 24 at Clark Racquet Center at 2 PM.
