CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Coe College softball team saw its 2024 season come to a close on Friday afternoon, falling 8-5 to no. 7 Case Western Reserve in the second game of the NCAA Super Regional series. The Kohawks, who end the year with a 34-11 record, fell behind early in the game, spotting the Spartans four runs in the top of the first. CWRU got two more runs in the second and never looked back, withstanding Coe's comeback efforts.

Addie Menke drove home Coe's three runs, combining for a two-run single and an RBI walk. Coe ends the year with its second straight 30-win season and NCAA Regional Title.

- The Spartans used three RBI singles in the top of the first inning to jump ahead, stringing together four early hits. A defensive miscue allowed the fourth run to score, giving CWRU a 4-0 lead. The Spartans got two more runs in the top of the second with a pair of two-out RBIs. Coe's first run came in the bottom of the second, loading the bases with two outs for Menke. Coe's right fielder drew a bases-loaded walk to push one home but CWRU got out of the jam with a strikeout. The Spartans added more insurance in the fourth and sixth, getting single runs in each frame to take an 8-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Coe fought back with two runs in the bottom of the inning with a clutch two-out hit from Dodd, driving home Ruby Kappeler and Hadyn Shoots. CWRU retired the side with runners on to eliminate the threat and proceeded to complete the job in the seventh, working around a one-out error for the win.
