CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College men's soccer team secured its second straight win on Saturday afternoon at Clark Field, defeating Monmouth College 3-2 in a non-conference matchup. The Kohawks struck early and often, getting two goals from forward
Jaden Palmer in the 8th and 17th minute.
Ian Kearney made it 3-0 less than one minute later, adding his fourth goal of the season to push the advantage. Monmouth pulled one back in the 30th minute and made it 3-2 late in the second half with a goal in the 88th but the Kohawks saw out the remaining time to secure the points. Coe edged Monmouth 13-10 in the shot count and forced three saves from the Fighting Scot keeper while
Jr. Holland made just two.

- Palmer opened the scoring with a strong solo effort in the 8th minute. He capitalized on a parried save from his initial shot and chased down the loose ball before dinking past the keeper. He made it 2-0 in the 17th minute, finishing off a numerous-pass team move from the Kohawks. Matthew Brand started the play with a cross-field ball into the box for Sebastian Pena who laid it on a platter for Palmer's second of the match. Kearney got in on the action just over 30 seconds later, slicing through the Fighting Scot defense before an arrowed shot into the bottom corner. Monmouth's first-half goal came from a set piece in the 30th minute, cutting the deficit to 3-1 on a well-worked play. The visitors fought back for much of the second half but were unable to create any clear-cut chances until late in the half, scoring their second with less than three minutes to play.
