Efficient attacking effort leads Women's Volleyball to sweeps against Rockford & Beloit

BELOIT, Wisc. – The Coe College women's volleyball team posted attacking percentages of .456 and .337 en route to a pair of 3-0 victories on Tuesday evening, defeating non-conference opponents Rockford and Beloit. The Kohawks were on fire throughout the two matches, committing just 22 attacking errors in six total sets. Coe made only one in the opening set against the Regents, making one error while hitting .667 in the frame. The Kohawks claimed the opening set 25-9 and cruised to 25-10 and 25-14 victories in the following frames for the win. Coe eased its way past the host Buccaneers in the nightcap, hitting .337 en route to the sweep. The visitors claimed a pair of 25-14 victories before edging the clinching set 25-17. Gracie Urbatsch, Maggie Furlong and Tessa Casebolt tied for a team-high nine kills in the opening match while Urbatsch and Casebolt had 10 each in the win over Beloit.

GAME FACTS
  • Coe didn't mess around in the opening frame, hitting .667 with 15 kills and one error. The convincing win set the tone for the remaining sets as the Kohawks eased to the victory with a 25-10 win in the second and a 25-14 clinching win. The hosts registered just 15 kills compared to 15 errors while the Kohawk defense tallied six blocks.

GAME FACTS
  • The hot night continued for the Kohawks in the second match of the game, getting another sweep with a strong offensive display. Coe got off to a hot start, totaling 15 kills and four errors in the opening set, winning 25-14. The Kohawks made it 2-0 by the same score, holding the Buccaneers to six kills with six errors. Beloit fought back a bit in the final set, hitting .240 overall but Coe overwhelmed the hosts, tallying 15 kills for the third consecutive set.
