CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College football team extended its winning streak to 24 over local rival Cornell College on Saturday, defeating the Rams 55-10 at Clark Field on Saturday. The Kohawks were slow out of the gates in the opening quarter, scoring just seven points in three drives. Cornell scored its lone touchdown in the second quarter via a pick six but the offense quickly responded, ripping off 14 unanswered points before a blocked punt touchdown made it 28-7 at the break. Coe quickly added three more touchdowns in the second half, pushing the lead to 49-7 midway through the third. Cornell stopped the bleeding with a field goal in the final minute but Coe had the last laugh, scoring a 59-yard touchdown on the next play from scrimmage. Coe's offense totaled 508 yards, racking up 285 through the air and 223 on the ground.
Clay Krousie was excellent in his first start, throwing for 222 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another score. The Kohawks defense flew around the field, allowing just 187 total yards including 23 on the ground. Coe tallied 10 tackles for loss, led by
Sam Shaw who had 2.5 stops behind the line.

- Trenton Barnes hit pay dirt for the first time in 2024 to start the scoring, capping off a six-play, 56-yard drive with an eight-yard score. Krousie shook off some early rust and began to click in the second quarter, connecting with Will Hiserote for a 42-yard bomb in the second quarter. Krousie used his legs later in the quarter to extend the lead, scoring on a five-yard scamper. Krousie made it 21-7 with the touchdown, ending a 15-play, 74-yard drive with the score. Coe's defense forced the issue next, getting a quick three-and-out before blocking the ensuing punt and returning it for a touchdown. Cayden Schultz broke through the line and blocked the punt before Henry Ryan pounced on the loose ball in the endzone. The offense continued to click in the second half, adding 14 and 13 points in the final two quarters. Krousie hooked up with Jeron Senters less than four minutes into the third for his second TD pass, hitting the sophomore with a 15-yard strike for six. Second-string running back Tre'sean Cunningham took over duties on the following drive and immediately made his mark, scoring a 16-yard touchdown to make it 42-7. Kyle Cole picked up the lone turnover for the Kohawk defense on the next possession, picking off a Ram pass near midfield to return the ball to the offense. Andrew White joined the party in the next drive, cashing in with a seven-yard run to make it 49-7. Cornell moved the ball on its final drive of the game into Coe territory and kicked a field goal to make it 49-10 with 42 seconds to play. White had the last laugh, taking the next snap 59 yards for his second score of the day as he gave Coe a 55-10 lead.
