MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Coe College wrestling team competed in limited capacity at Cornell College's Cliff Keen Mike Duroe Invite on Saturday. The Kohawk performances were highlighted by three place-winners but freshman
Kael Kurtz led the way with a second-place finish in the Gold 141 bracket. The Iowa City High product was 4-1 on the day, defeating opponents from UW-Platteville, Cornell, UW-La Crosse and Augsburg before ultimately falling short in the championship match.
Karter Guzman and
Lauden Edwards rounded out the place-winning finishes for the Kohawks, taking fifth and sixth respectively in the Gold 149 bracket. Guzman and Edwards faced each other in the fifth-place match and Guzman narrowly edged his teammate, securing a 6-2 decision to take fifth.
