INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Coe College football team won its second straight game Saturday afternoon at Simpson, defeating the Storm 34-7. Coe's offense was balanced throughout the game, finishing with 263 yards on the ground and 227 yards through the air. The Kohawk offense started the scoring in the first quarter as
Quincy Drummer scored his first of three touchdowns on the day, sprinting home from 33-yards out. Coe exploded later in the second quarter, scoring three touchdowns in the final 7:20 of the period. Drummer started the run with his second score of the day, capping off a nine-play, 69-yard drive with a seven-yard TD.
Brady Kelly and
Latrell Taylor continued the stretch with a 67-yard connection and quickly followed with a 21-yard score after a
Henry Ryan interception set up good field position late in the half. Coe used a long scoring drive to put the game away to start the third quarter, going 65-yards on 10 plays before Drummer scored the hat trick from two yards out. Simpson scored a consolation touchdown with under four minutes to go in the fourth quarter, ending the shutout despite finishing with just 257 yards of total offense. Kelly finished the game 9-of-14 passing with 201 yards and two touchdowns while Taylor had three catches for 105 yards and two scores. Drummer hit a new career high with 121 yards total while
Tre'sean Cunningham also eclipsed the century mark for the second straight week with 116 yards. Ryan led Coe's defensive effort with nine total tackles, one interception and one pass break up while
Jack Clarahan and
Kyle Cole had eight stops each.

- Coe's offense took over at its own 12 for its first drive, moving it quickly into Storm territory with a short pass to Cunningham and six runs to Drummer. Drummer broke the big run on third and seven, scampering through the defense for a 33-yard score. Simpson held Coe scoreless on its next drive but went empty on two of its own, giving the visitors a chance to extend the lead midway through the quarter. Coe took over at its 31 and immediately hit Taylor for 17 yards before Cunningham carried the rock into Simpson territory. A penalty on fourth down kept Coe's drive alive before Drummer went for 15 yards and a seven-yard score on back-to-back rushes. The Kohawks made it 21-0 immediately after a three-and-out from Simpson, going 75-yards in five plays as Taylor beat the defense for a 67-yard score on second and 14. Coe intercepted two passes in the final four minutes, getting one from Leighton Charters and one from Ryan in the final minute. The pick came deep in Storm territory, setting up a 21-yard strike for Taylor to make it 28-0 at half. Drummer and the Kohawks rubbed salt in the wound to start the third quarter, going 65-yards over 5:12 before a two-yard score made it 34-0. Simpson broke the shutout in the final quarter, using a big play to get down to Coe's goal line before a one-yard plunge.
