GAME FACTS
COE 42 - LUTHER 21
- Coe won the toss and chose to defer, immediately forcing a three-and-out from Luther to set up the offense. It took just two plays for the Kohawks as Kelly connected with Devon Kollasch for a 49-yard pass before hitting Cunningham on an underneath route for a catch and run TD. Luther moved it to its own 37 on the next drive before punting back to the quick-striking Coe offense. Kelly hit Will Hiserote and Cayden Schultz for 30-plus yards on back-to-back plays, setting up a corner fade to Taylor who made an acrobatic catch in the corner of the end zone. Another three-and-out turned the ball back to Coe's offense with 7:13 left in the first quarter. The Kohawks used the ground game en route to their third score of the period with Cunningham beating the defense on a nine-yard score for 21-0. Coe scored with its first drive of the second quarter, opening the drive with two big rushes from Andrew White. Kelly found Taylor for his second score of the day down near Luther's goal line as the wideout beat his man and fought through a pass interference call to snag his ninth TD of the season. Coe's defense remained dominant in the quarter, forcing another three-and-out to set up the home team at their own 40. Cunningham and Quincy Drummer led the offense into the red zone before Kelly found Baethke with a backyard football esque play, tossing it toward his receiver who somehow made the catch behind a pair of Norse defenders. A misplayed kick off from Luther resulted in an onside kick recovery for the Kohawks as Jake Collett's kick was pounced on by Reed McNutt deep inside Luther territory. Cunningham wasted no time making it 42-0, taking the first play from scrimmage 22-yards as he ran through the Luther defense for the score. Luther hung around in the second half as Coe turned to its second and third units, making it 42-21 with a trio of touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
