PLATTEVILLE, Wisc. — The Coe College volleyball team won its second straight match Thursday evening, defeating the University of Wisconsin Platteville Pioneers 3-1 on the road. The Kohawks jumped ahead with a strong performance in the opening set, recording 14 kills in the frame to edge the Pioneers 26-24. The hosts responded with a dominant effort in the second period, hitting .414 as a team while holding Coe to just nine kills and an .024 attack percentage. The Kohawks took advantage of a sloppy UWP set in the third to regain the lead, limiting Platteville to six kills and seven errors as Coe won 25-20 to go ahead 2-1. The clincher was Coe's best offensive set of the match, hitting .394 with 17 kills and four errors.

Kelsey Hansel were the top performers for Coe on offense, piling up 14 kills while
Tessa Casebolt added 12.

- Platteville raced out to an early lead, going up 7-1 before a timeout from the Kohawks to try and stop the run. Coe momentarily got one back but the Pioneers made it 11-2 before the visitors settled in. The Kohawks answered with six in a row, pulling within eight and later tying the match at 24-24. Coe got the final two points to claim a 26-24 win as Elise Blaesing picked up a service ace before an attacking error. The Pioneers raced out to another early lead in the second set and did not look back, taking a 15-3 advantage and seeing it over the line. The teams traded points in the third set for the early portion but a run from Coe gave the visitors a 12-8 midway through. Coe slowly built the lead, scoring 10 of the next 15 points to go up 22-16. Platteville fought to the end but a set-ending service error made it 2-1 in the contest. Coe led 13-7 in the final set, getting five kills from Furlong in the early going. Platteville responded to get within two points of the lead but Coe ended the frame on an 8-2 run to clinch the match.
