WAVERLY, Iowa – The Coe College men's soccer team fell to Wartburg College Wednesday evening, suffering a 1-0 defeat on the road to the Knights. Wartburg was in control early in the first half, forcing saves from Kohawk keeper
Jr. Holland in the 7th, 17th and 23rd minute. Coe did well to limit the chances over the next phase of play but Wartburg found the game's lone goal in the 38th minute, scoring from nearly 30 yards after a turnover in Coe's defensive area. Wartburg controlled the second half with the lead, limiting Coe to one early shot in the period before desperation times kicked in late in the match.
Alan Losoya had a chance to tie the match in the 89th minute but had a headed effort saved by the Knight keeper as Wartburg held on.

- The Knights recorded the game's first three shots, forcing the early save from Holland in the seventh minute. Isaiah Jakel had an attempt blocked for the Kohawks in the 16th minute, temporarily taking the pressure off Coe. The Knights remained on top for the remainder of the half, scoring the opening goal with a screaming effort from well outside the 18-yard box. Angel Panora-Garcia had the first shot of the second half, missing an effort high as Coe searched for the equalizer. Wartburg regained control of the match for the remainder of the clock, racking up 15 shots in the half as Holland was excellent making eight saves in the period. Losoya had Coe's best chance to salvage a point, sending a looping header towards goal but the effort was centrally located, falling into the keeper's arms.
