CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College football team picked up a homecoming victory over Buena Vista Saturday afternoon at Clark Field, defeating the visiting Beavers 37-10 to improve to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the A-R-C. The Kohawks saw BV take the early lead, marching the field on the opening drive before settling for a 34-yard field goal to go up 3-0. Coe responded with 17 unanswered points to close the first quarter and start the second, getting a 22-yard field goal from
Jake Collett before touchdown passes from
Brady Kelly to
Latrell Taylor and
Jackson Baethke to make it 17-3. Buena Vista stayed in the game before the end of the second quarter, scoring early in the period to cut the lead to 17-10 before holding Coe scoreless for the final 10-plus minutes. It was a slow start for the offenses in the third quarter with the teams trading four scoreless possessions. The Kohawks broke through in the third and never looked back as Kelly hooked up with Taylor for his second score of the day to make it 24-10. Tre'sean Cunningham before
Kyle Cole picked off a Beaver pass for a 48-yard pick six. Coe totaled 335 yards on the ground, getting 139 yards from Cunningham, 75 from
Isaiah Lee and 70 from
Quincy Drummer as the three Kohawks combined for most of the rushing work. Kelly was 13-of-24 passing with 240 yards and three touchdowns, his fourth game of 2025 with at least three passing TDs.

- BV put together an impressive opening drive, going 58 yards over 16 plays before Coe's defense forced it to settle for a field goal. The Kohawks answered quickly, getting a 44-yard pass to Jeron Senters to set up a 22-yard kick for Collett that tied the game. Coe took the lead later in the quarter after a bad punt gave the hosts plus field position. Kelly and the offense moved into Beaver territory before Coe's gunslinger hit Taylor streaking down the left sideline for a touchdown. Cunningham ripped off a few big runs on Coe's next scoring drive, getting into the red zone before Kelly found Baethke to make it 17-3. Buena Vista put together another strong drive in response, going 82 yards in just six plays before a 10-yard touchdown pass cut the lead back to seven. The teams traded empty drives over the next 10 minutes of the half as Coe went into the break up 17-10. The lack of scoring continued in the early minutes of the third quarter as Coe and BVU failed on fourth-down conversions. The Kohawks scored the first points of the period with 3:44 left in the frame, getting a 49-yard rush from Cunningham to jumpstart the drive. Kelly ended the drive with his second TD to Taylor, connecting with his top target in the corner of the endzone for 24-10. Cunningham finally got his reward in the fourth quarter, extending Coe's lead to 30-10 with a 15-yard plunge as he found paydirt for the first time since week one at Cornell. Cole put the icing on the cake moments later on the next drive as he picked off a Beaver pass and returned it for a 48-yard touchdown.
