MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The no. 9 Coe College wrestling team fell to no. 22 Cornell College on criteria after tying the dual 18-18. The Kohawks opened the match with a trio of victories at 125, 133 and 141, getting an early lead from
Brayden Parke, Bryce Parke and
Kael Kurtz.
Brayden Parke was the lone Kohawk to earn bonus points, claiming a major decision with an 8-0 victory over Jase Van Pelt. Cornell responded with wins in the next three matches, capping off the big run with a first-period fall at 165.
LJ Richardson and
Jared Voss pulled the Kohawks back ahead in the match, picking up a technical fall and decision to make it 18-12 heading into the final matches. The Rams earned decisions in the final two bouts, claiming a 6-5 victory at 197 and a match-clinching 14-9 decision at heavyweight.
