DUBUQUE, Iowa - The no. 9 Coe College wrestling team picked up an American Rivers Conference dual victory Friday evening, defeating the University of Dubuque 31-14 in the team's final dual of the regular season. The Kohawks started the match with six consecutive victories with the contest beginning at the 141-pound weight class.
Kael Kurtz claimed a dramatic sudden victory at 141 and was followed by back-to-back bonus-point decisions from
Dresden Grimm and
Ty Koedam.
Drake Thompson stepped into the lineup and kept the winning going at 165, defeating his opponent 4-2 to keep the Spartans off the board.
LJ Richardson and
Jared Voss rounded out the match-opening wins at 174 and 184, picking up a technical fall and major decision to put Coe in the driver's seat. Dubuque responded with a trio of wins at 197, 285 and 125, pulling to within nine of the Kohawk lead.
Bryce Parke put the icing on the cake in the final bout of the evening, securing a first-period fall in 1:30 to ensure the victory.
