CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College baseball team saw its American Rivers Conference tournament run come to a close Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium, falling 6-5 to the sixth-seeded Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves in an elimination game. The Kohawks fell behind on a two-run single in the top of the first inning but battled back to take a 5-2 advantage into the late innings. Coe left the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth in search of insurance and paid the ultimate price in the ninth as Nebraska Wesleyan flipped the game on its head with a four spot, taking the lead with a softly-hit single up the middle that barely squeaked past the Coe infielders. The Kohawks, who outhit the Prairie Wolves 10-8 for the game, went quietly in the bottom of the ninth, going in order as NWU ended the tournament title hopes.
