MONMOUTH, Ill.– The Coe College women's golf team sits atop the leaderboard after 18 holes of Monmouth College's Fighting Scot Invite, posting an opening round total of 319. The Kohawk women were led by a pair of outstanding rounds from
Paige Franzen and
Lia Maxwell, shooting scores of 75 and 76 respectively. Franzen, who fired the low round of the day, had an eagle two on her first hole and made two additional birdies on the back nine. Maxwell had three birdies on her card, posting back-to-back 38s on the front and back nine to sit in a tie for second place.
Morgan Witte and
Kye Daywitt rounded out Coe's team number with first-round scores of 83 and 85.
Madison Connolly (85) and
Sydney Stutzel (90) competed as individuals for Coe and are in T13 and T23 respectively.
