CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coe College student-athletes Sophia Fain and Lia Maxwell received weekly honors from the American Rivers Conference Monday afternoon, being selected as the league's Women's Tennis and Women's Golf Players of the Week. Fain, a senior on the women's tennis team, was 4-0 for the week as her squad picked up a pair of A-R-C sweeps. Fain paired with Lucille Rozeboom on Friday for a 6-3 victory over Central in doubles, then followed with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout in singles. She came back with two more wins on Saturday, winning at number two doubles with Alli Hagness before a 6-2, 7-5 victory at the top singles spot against Simpson. Maxwell, a junior on the women's golf team, claimed medalist honors at the Buena Vista Invite over the weekend, jumping three players with a tournament-low 76 on Sunday. She lapped the field by five shots in round two and had two birdies and 11 pars while overcoming a double bogey en route to the title.
