MONMOUTH, Ill.– The Coe College women's golf team picked up a team trophy at the Monmouth College Fighting Scot Invite on Sunday afternoon, shooting a second-round 316 to finish with a two-day total of 635. The Kohawks, who finished 12 strokes ahead of second-place Marian, were led by sophomore
Lia Maxwell who shot a second-round 75 to claim individual medalist honors with a 36-hole total of 151. Maxwell, who carded a pair of birdies and 10 pars, set a new 36-hole record for the Kohawk women, bettering Megan Tanghe's previous record by one stroke.
Paige Franzen joined Maxwell in the top five on the leaderboard, following up her strong opening round with a round of 80 on Sunday to place T4.
Morgan Witte and
Kye Daywitt each shaved strokes off their first-round scores, finishing 7th and 8th individually after rounds of 81 and 80 on Sunday.
Sydney Stutzel also turned in a solid round on Sunday, shooting an 83, seven shots better than her opening score as she placed T15.
Madison Connolly and
Abigail Mundsinger wrapped up Coe's scoring for the tournament, placing T19 and 31st respectively.
