CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College men's tennis team split a pair of matches to begin its 2026 season Saturday at Clark Racquet Center, falling 4-3 to Carthage before a 7-0 victory over Central. Coe opened well in the first match of the day, picking up the team point in doubles with wins at number two and three from
Daniel Rohlman / Anthony Schulte and
Ivan Burt-Smith /Joshua Tiemann. The Kohawks saw Carthage pick up four singles wins in the ensuing competition, securing enough points to complete the comeback. Despite the loss, Coe got singles wins from Schulte at the top spot and from Tiemann at number two as both Kohawks secured their second wins of the morning. It was a dominant close to opening day for Coe, defeating the Dutch 7-0 in the night cap.

Reed Kruger started the match with a sweep in doubles, winning 6-4, 6-2, and 6-4 respectively. In singles, Idoux, Kruger,
Jumpei Kasai,
Nathaniel Miller and
Archie Loehr completed the perfect sweep, winning all six matches in straight sets.
