CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Coe College women's basketball team picked up a dominant A-R-C victory at Kohawk Arena Saturday afternoon, taking down the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves 81-60. The Kohawks started the game with a 7-0 run and never looked back, building a 21-6 lead before the end of the first quarter. Coe put the pedal to the floor in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 20 at half with another strong frame.
Caydee Kirkham put the game on ice in the third, scoring nine points in the period to push the advantage to 59-34 with one period to play. Coe saw out the final quarter of action, fending off a late charge from the Prairie Wolves along the way. Kirkham posted her fourth 30-point performance of the season and registered a season-best 36 points in the victory, one shy of her career best and four shy of a new single-game record.

- Coe opened the game with seven unanswered points as Kirkham and Kravig combined for the strong opening. Wesleyan settled in a traded punches with the hosts during the next phase. Coe dominated the final three minutes of the quarter, scoring nine straight points to lead 21-6 after 10 minutes. The Kohawks extended the lead to begin the second quarter, getting a 9-5 run that was capped with a 3 from Laiken Haas. Coe and NWU exchanged buckets over the closing six-plus minutes of the period but five points from Kirkham during the span allowed Coe to maintain its comfortable lead. The Kohawks dominated the opening minutes of the third, pushing the lead to 26 points less than three minutes in as Kirkham, Helmrichs and Kravig combined for the early buckets. Coe saw out the remaining minutes of the game, keeping Nebraska Wesleyan at a comfortable distance en route to the victory.
