Men’s Basketball completes season sweep of UD behind Nailor’s near triple-double

DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Coe College men's basketball team picked up a midweek victory at the University of Dubuque Wednesday night, completing the season sweep of the Spartans with a 73-62 victory. The Kohawks established a small lead early in the first half, maintaining the advantage throughout the period. The visitors built on their 30-26 halftime advantage early in the second, getting an 11-4 run to push their lead to 11 as Deuce Walters spurred the stretch with six points for Coe. The Kohawks pulled further away in the next phase, taking a commanding 54-39 lead midway through the second half with another long scoring stretch. UD refused to give in, fighting back with a big run to make it 60-54 with 4:53 to play. Cooper Nailor, who totaled 25 points, 16 rebounds and six assists in a near triple-double performance, helped put the game away for Coe in the following moments. The senior led a 7-0 run, capping off the game-sealing stretch with a clutch 3 to make it 67-54, a large enough lead for the Kohawks to see out. Walters joined Nailor as the only other double-digit scorer for Coe, totaling 15 points while C. Reece Breitenbach (8), Kanyon Bryte (8) and Ryan Dolphin (7) rounded out the bigger scoring contributions.
