CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Coe College men's tennis player
Jumpei Kasai was honored by the American Rivers Conference Monday afternoon, being named the league's men's tennis player of the week. A junior from Tokyo, Kasai helped Coe to a pair of non-conference wins over Wabash and UW-Stevens Point as the Kohawks improved to 5-1 for the spring season. He was 4-0 with two wins at the top doubles spot with
Bryton Short while claiming two victories in singles at number five and number two. Kasai and Short opened the day with a 7-5 win over Wabash's top pair before he earned a comeback 3-6, 7-5, 10-6 victory in singles at number five. He and Short paired again at the top doubles spot against the Pointers, earning a 6-2 decision to improve to 9-3 as a duo for the season. Jumpei capped off the unbeaten day in singles, winning 6-2, 6-0 at number two for his fourth victory overall.
