LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Coe College softball team opened its 2026 season Friday afternoon with a pair of non-conference matchups, falling 3-1 to Transylvania and 6-5 to host Spalding. The Kohawks fell behind early in game one as the Pioneers scored two runs in the top of the second inning and never looked back. Coe managed two hits in the games and got the lone RBI from
Maddie Harris with a productive groundout that pulled the Kohawks to within one run in the sixth. Transylvania sealed the win in the seventh with an additional insurance run to regain a two-run advantage before the Kohawks left a pair of runners on in the home half of the inning. Coe's offense produced two runs in the opening inning of game two but the Kohawks found themselves down 6-3 after two innings as Spalding scored three in the opening two frames. Coe put another late charge together in the seventh, scoring two more runs before the Golden Eagles escaped a jam to hang on. Harris had three more hits and two RBI in game two and was joined by
Katelyn Bladecki and
Grace McCarty who registered multi-hit performances.

Transylvania got the run back in the top of the seventh and then hung on in the bottom as the Kohawks left two more runners on.
GAME TWO
SPALDING 6 - COE 5
- Harris opened the second game with a two-run triple, plating McCarty and Keirah Wiseman who had reached on back-to-back walks to begin the game.
