CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coe College Director of Athletics and Recreation Steve Cook announced the hiring of Jon Lansing '22 as the head coach for the Kohawk men's tennis program. Lansing, a two-time all-conference performer during his time as a player for Coe, takes over from Eric Rodgers, who announced his retirement from the position after 37 years in charge. Since graduating from Coe, Lansing has developed his coaching skills as a tennis professional and assistant pro at two locations. 
 
"Jon will be a great addition to our head coaching staff here at Coe," said Cook. "He's been around Coe tennis since his early playing days, taking lessons at the Racquet Center as a youth player. Jon was an easy choice to promote after he stepped up during Coach Rodgers' final season. He demonstrated his ability to work with our student-athletes and help improve our competitiveness overall."
 
The Cedar Rapids native began his teaching career at Cedar Rapids Country Club as an assistant tennis pro for two years. He followed with another two-year stint at Flying Horse Club and Resort in Colorado Springs, where he was the head tennis professional. Since returning to Cedar Rapids, Lansing has served as an assistant coach for the Kohawks while serving as the head pickleball pro and assistant tennis pro at CRCC. Coach Lansing will also serve as the Interim Director of the Racquet Center, coordinating operations and lessons throughout the school year. 
 
"I am excited and honored to be taking over the Men's tennis program here at Coe," said Lansing. "As an alum, player, and coach, I have directly witnessed the historical success of a program built upon integrity, dedication, and love for our sport. I plan to continue living up to the high standards of this program established over the past 37 years of coaching by Eric Rodgers. The future is bright, and I plan to go above and beyond in order for our players to achieve success. Go Kohawks!"
