Women’s Soccer A-R-C Preseason Underdogs

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Kohawk women's soccer team looks to use its experienced returning players to shake up the A-R-C standings this season. Coe was voted to finish eighth in the preseason A-R-C coaches' poll on Wednesday. James Culotta enters his fifth season as head coach for women's soccer and has a good mix of veteran players and incoming talent that can make a lot of noise this upcoming season.

"The thing that most excites me about our roster this fall is the fact that we return so many players who have so much experience," commented Culotta. "We also have some great leaders who are doing a great job of bringing along our newcomers and integrating them into the squad. We believe we have the group to be an even more ball-dominant and creative team than in past seasons. Last season, the Kohawks doubled their shots and shots on goal from the 2024 season and look to build on that.

The 2026 season begins with a non-conference home opener against Hamline University (9/1). An early jam-packed non-conference slate featuring Crown College (9/4), UW-Whitewater (9/6), Grinnell College (9/9), and Knox College (9/12) sees the Kohawks playing five matches in twelve days. The Kohawks renew their Bremner Cup rivalry with Cornell (9/16) at home as they hit the middle of their non-conference games. They then travel to Chicago, Ill. to face North Park University (9/19) before heading back home to take on Principia College (9/23). A trip to UW-Stevens Point (9/26) and then home against Augustana College (9/30) finish off the non-conference matches.

The conference schedule kicks off in October with the Kohawks on the road against University of Dubuque (10/7) before their conference home opener against Central College (10/10). The following week, the Kohawks have a big test against preseason conference favorites Loras College (10/13) and then pay a visit to the preseason number-three team, Simpson College (10/17). In its final three regular season games, Coe goes on the road to face Nebraska Wesleyan (10/21), then returns home for ties with Buena Vista (10/24), and Wartburg (10/27).
