CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coe College Director of Athletics and Recreation Steve Cook announced the hiring of Brandon Hornback as the next head coach for the Kohawk women's tennis program. Hornback brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to the position, serving as the Head Tennis Professional at Cedar Rapids Country Club since 2021 and the head girls tennis coach at Washington High School since 2018. A 2017 graduate of Wartburg, he earned two all-conference awards while playing for the Knights and has since coached several state-qualifying high school players, including four state champions.
 
"I am excited to welcome Brandon to Coe," said Cook. "His familiarity with our program and his extensive coaching background will greatly benefit our players and the Coe Women's Tennis program as a whole. Coach Hornback is an excellent teacher who has worked extensively with players of all ages and skill levels. As a former DIII athlete, Brandon's teaching skill set will help elevate the Kohawks in the American Rivers Conference and DIII tennis."
 
Hornback played high school tennis at Marion High School before his standout career at Wartburg. Following graduation, he took the head job at Washington High School and was the Assistant Tennis Pro at Westfield Tennis Club from 2017-2020. Brandon later was a part-time professional at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex before starting as the Head Professional at CRCC in 2021. During his time at the Country Club, Hornback spent one season as a volunteer coach for the Kohawk women in 2022-23.
