CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Coe College men's and women's cross country and track and field coaches
Mat Littleton and
Krista Littleton have announced the hiring of
Nate Jones as an assistant coach for throws, serving both programs. Jones, a 2025 graduate of Mount Mercy, joins the Kohawk staff after working as a graduate assistant in the Mustang Athletic Department, focusing on game management and facilities administration. He competed for five seasons in the throwing circle at Mount Mercy, utilizing his fifth-year eligibility. A 2021 graduate of Prairie High School, Jones brings local experience and familiarity with Iowa Track & Field."
"Nate really stood out to us as someone who is a student of the sport, and obviously the throws in particular," said
Krista Littleton. "He really values the team component of the sport and seems eager to embrace our overall team culture here at Coe."
"Nate is a local guy from Prairie High School and stayed local for college and competed for five years at Mt. Mercy," said
Mat Littleton. "He knows Iowa Track & Field well, and particularly this part of the state. We believe that he's going to use that network for recruiting in a very impactful way. Hopefully being born and raised here will also help ensure that he stays with us for a while so we can have good continuity in the throws events."
"I am very excited to be a part of Coe College track and field as the new throws coach," said Jones. "I'm looking forward to working with the student-athletes to help them achieve their full potential both in the classroom and in the throwing rings."
