CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College women's soccer team won its second game in three matches on Wednesday evening at Clark Field, defeating the visiting Principia College Panthers 2-0 in a non-conference matchup. The Kohawks dominated the opening half, recording 23 shots in the first 45 minutes while forcing 13 saves from the Principia keeper.
Magdalynne Preuss bagged the lone goal of the first period in the 33rd minute, heading past the keeper after a nicely floated ball from
Dessa Snyder. Coe continued to pile on the pressure in the final minutes of the first and early in the second, finally adding an insurance goal in the 65th minute.
Sage Schwartz scored her first of the season in style, lacing a first-timed finish to the top right corner to make it 2-0.

- The first half was completely dominated by the Kohawks, as they totaled 23 shots in the first half alone. 13 of those 23 shots forced saves from the Principia keeper. Preuss led the way with eight of those 23 and headed in the first goal of the match. Preuss had a few chances earlier in the half that were saved, and even had one that glanced off the left post and stayed out. The goal from Preuss brings her season total to five. Both teams picked up yellow cards in the first half, with Elly Manning being the recipient of the card.
- It would take to the middle of the second half for the Kohawks to double their advantage as Schwartz placed one in the back of the net to make the score 2-0 in the 65th minute. That goal would be her first goal of the season. In all, the Kohawks would add 15 more shots to their total, ending with 38, 19 of them on target, at the end of 90 minutes. The match would finish 2-0 in the end and would be the Kohawks' third win of the season.
