WAVERLY, Iowa - The (RV) Coe College volleyball team extended its winning streak to six games on Saturday, defeating Concordia (MN) and #14 Gustavus on the final day of the Wartburg Invite. The Kohawks cruised to a 3-0 victory over Concordia in the opening match and took down 14th-ranked Gustavus in their second.
Kate Tidman led the team in the opener, registering 14 kills in the match with a .464 attack percentage.
Grace Lueken was an offensive powerhouse in game two, posting 13 kills on just 26 attacks for a hitting percentage of .423. Freshman setter
Maddy Maahs guided the offense in both matches, posting 40 dimes in match one and 46 assists in match two. The wins move Coe to 13-3 overall while Concordia (MN) and Gustavus move to 2-11 and 10-4 respectively.

COE 3 - CONCORDIA (MN) 0
- The Kohawks grabbed the first significant lead of the match, taking an 11-6 advantage to force a timeout from the opponent. Coe continued to dominate the opener, stretching its advantage before the end of the period. The Kohawks earned a 25-11 victory in the first set to grab the lead, attacking at a .421 clip along the way.
- Coe and Concordia traded points early in set two but a stretch of four serves in a row from Maddie Harris allowed Coe to grab a 9-6 lead. The Kohawks stayed dominant after a timeout, extending the advantage to 18-10 before another break in the action. Concordia scraped back and pulled within six of the lead but Coe hung on for a 25-19 victory.
- The Kohawks wrapped up the match in style, claiming a 25-14 victory in the third and final set. Coe went behind 3-0 but quickly answered with a dominant 8-1 stretch to take an 8-4 lead. Concordia attempted to stop the bleeding with another timeout but Coe was relentless, extending the lead to 16-10. DeAnn Akins team secured the victory with an impressive game-ending run, scoring nine of the final 13 points to sweep the Cobbers.

- Coe's offense was on fire in the opening set of match two, racking up 18 kills to just four errors. The Kohawks took the first real lead at 13-9, getting a strong run of serves from Harris and Tidman. The Coe lead stretched to 20-15 after a timeout from the Gusties with Tidman and Lueken getting back-to-back kills to increase the advantage. Gustavus battled back despite its deficit, tying the match at 22 to force a timeout. The Kohawks hung on to the set, claiming a 26-24 victory after three-straight kills from Madi Parson.
- The Kohawks and Gusties battled for a majority of the second set, but Gustavus took a 14-12 advantage and forced a pause from Coe. The Kohawks answered out of the break, scrapping back to tie the set at 18. Coe dominated the final stretch of the match, scoring seven of the final nine points to earn a 25-20 victory.
- Gustavus answered in set three, holding Coe to just 11 kills while posting a .382 attacking percentage. The Gusties grabbed an early lead and hung on despite a scrappy effort from Coe, taking set three 25-14.
- The Kohawk offense was on fire in the fourth and final set, attacking at a .394 clip while racking up 16 kills. Tidman had a team-high four kills in the set and was joined by Lueken and Maggie Furlong who had multiple during the period. Coe jumped out to an early 15-8 lead and kept up the momentum after a timeout, cruising to a 25-15 lead to secure the match.
Up next: Coe is off until Saturday, October 1 when it returns to non-conference action against UW-Eau Claire and Illinois Wesleyan at the Cornell Triangular.
