CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's basketball team picked up its first conference victory of the season on Saturday afternoon at Kohawk Arena, dominating Buena Vista in a 92-49 win. The Kohawks handled business from the opening whistle, doubling up the Beavers in the opening quarter for an early 24-12 advantage. The Kohawks continued to dominate in the second, extending the advantage with another strong period, outscoring BVU 27-10 to lead 51-22 at the break. Coe didn't let up in the final two quarters, cruising to its first league victory while shooting a season-high 55.4 percent as a squad.
Taylor Brunson paced a balanced attack for the Kohawks, scoring 19 points to finish as one of five players in double digits.

Caydee Kirkham (11),
Ellie Wisner (10) and
Taryn Kravig (10) all joined Brunson in double-figures and 11 players in total recorded points in the win.

GAME FACTS
- Coe started with seven unanswered points, getting three from Petersen who led the early run. BVU answered with five quick points to keep it close but an 8-3 run from Coe during the next 2:32 put the hosts up 17-8 late in the first. The Kohawks, who ended the quarter with four-straight points, began the second with four unanswered to make it 28-12. The hosts put their foot on the gas for a remainder of the quarter, using a 23-10 run to put the game out of reach by the half. Coe furthered its lead early in the third with an immediate 10-2 run. The Kohawks then turned to their reserves for the remainder of the game, handling the remaining moments in the victory.
Up next: The Kohawks return to the road for their final A-R-C contest of 2023, traveling to Pella for a matchup with Central on Saturday, December 9 at 4 PM.
