CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team opened American Rivers Conference action on Saturday morning, defeating Loras College 9-0 at Clark Racquet Center. The Kohawks got things rolling from the jump, cruising to an early lead in the match after three doubles victories.
Jordan Oaks and
Alex Palomar secured the first point for Coe, dominating the number two doubles match for an 8-0 victory.
Graham Peterson and
Ivan Burth-Smith followed closely behind, securing an 8-1 decision at number one to cement Coe's lead. The Kohawks secured the doubles sweep with an 8-3 decision at number three as
Harry Hawbaker and
Conner Kryscio improved their season doubles record to 3-0. Coe's superiority carried over into singles where the hosts swept the competition all in straight sets. Peterson extended the lead with a 6-1, 6-0 decision at number three before Burt-Smith claimed the clinching point at number two, earning a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Grant Idoux and
Isaac Hinze put the icing on the cake with wins at number five and number six. The win moves Coe to 3-0 on the year and 1-0 in the A-R-C while Loras drops to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in league action.
