DECORAH, Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team suffered a 7-2 defeat to Luther College on Wednesday afternoon in a battle of the top two teams in the American Rivers Conference. The Kohawks and Norse traded blows throughout the day, playing numerous close matches in both doubles and singles however the Norse earned straight-sets wins at number one, three, five and six singles to edge Coe.
Graham Peterson and
Jordan Oaks picked up the lone doubles win for the team, earning an 8-6 decision at the top spot to pick up their first victory of the year as a duo.
Grant Idoux was Coe's only winner in singles, pulling off a come-from-behind victory at number four, eventually winning a third-set tiebreak 10-8.
Graham Peterson also took his match to a deciding set, wining the opener 6-1 before falling 4-6 and 10-6 in the tiebreaker. The loss drops Coe to 11-7 overall and 3-1 in the A-R-C while Luther improves to 12-6 and 4-0 in the league.
