No. 25 Softball Sweeps (RV) Luther to Remain Unbeaten at Home

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The No. 25 Coe College softball team picked up another American Rivers Conference sweep on Sunday afternoon, taking down (RV) Luther College 3-2 in game one and 8-0 in game two. The opening game featured solid pitching efforts from both teams but a pair of solo homers from Bree Mangelsen and Skyler Stookey helped Coe erase an early two-run lead. Ellie Thurow earned the win in game one after an impressive relief effort, pitching four-plus innings while striking out five Norse hitters. Coe's offense exploded in game two, racking up 15 hits and eight runs in a six-inning run-rule win. Ruby Kappeler got the scoring started with a two-run homer in the third inning and Coe went on to score a pair of runs in the following three frames to lock up the sweep. Hannah Ausenhus was nearly unhittable in the second game, allowing just two Norse batters to reach safely. Coe extends its winning streak to five games with the sweep and improves to 28-4 overall and 11-1 in the A-R-C while Luther drops to 24-6 and 5-3.
