MUSCATINE, Iowa - Coe College men's golf junior Lucas Geiger shot an opening round of two-over par 73 on the opening day of the 2023 American Rivers Conference Men's Golf Championships, earning a one-shot lead after 18 holes of play at Geneva Golf & Country Club. Geiger was solid throughout his initial round of the tournament, carding a birdie on his front nine while recording just three total bogeys, the fewest of any player from Thursday's round. Overall, Coe shot a team score of 316, currently sitting in fifth place behind Luther, Wartburg, Central and Nebraska Wesleyan. The Norse, who entered the day as the top overall seed, lead by six shots over second-place Wartburg after a first-round score of 305. Coe is just four shots back of third-place Central and three strokes back of fourth-place Nebraska Wesleyan. Collin Brockmeyer turned in the second-lowest round of the day for Coe, shooting a first-round 80 to finish T20 after 18 holes. Sam Scully, James Carsrud and Alec Brockmeyer round out the final three players in Coe's lineup, sitting T28, T34 and T37 respectively. The Kohawks will return to the course tomorrow morning at 9:50 AM for the second round of the A-R-C Championships.
