CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Buena Vista at Clark Field on Tuesday evening. The Kohawks controlled the game for much of the early going, creating most of the chances in the opening half but the BVU keeper managed to make a pair of saves to keep it scoreless. The visitors opened the scoring early in the second half, scoring on a penalty kick in the 61st minute. BVU rode the momentum and quickly doubled the lead, scoring the second goal in the 66th minute on a counter attack. Coe dominated the last 25-plus minutes and finally found the back of the net in the 86th minute as
Elly Manning scored from outside the box but it was too little too late for the Kohawks.

- The Beavers had the first shot of the match in the 11th minute, forcing Ashton Proctor into an early save. Manning registered Coe's first shot minutes later, seeing her attempt saved in the 14th minute. Jordan Rosas had the only other shot on target of the half, seeing a shot saved in the 43rd minute from well outside the box. BVU started the second half on top, forcing an early save and narrowly missing the target with another attempt. The visitors got the payoff in the 61st minute, converting a penalty for the 1-0 lead. The Beavers made it 2-0 a few minutes later, hitting Coe on the transition to double the advantage. The Kohawks immediately turned up the pressure, creating numerous chances before finally scoring in the 86th minute. Manning blasted home Coe's lone goal from a well-worked set piece, taking a short pass from Maggie Preuss outside the box before burying a shot in the corner. Coe got one final chance from Dessa Snyder in the 87th minute but her potential game-tying shot was saved as BVU hung on for the victory.
