Sophia Fain & Addison Leasure sweep Women’s Tennis major individual honors as four Kohawks earn all-conference

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Coe College women's tennis student-athletes Sophia Fain and Addison Leasure picked up major postseason honors from the American Rivers Conference on Thursday afternoon, being named the league's Player and Rookie of the Year. Alli Hagness and Alice Tysoe joined Fain and Leasure on the all-conference teams as Hagness picked up singles and doubles honors while Tysoe secured a spot on the doubles team. Fain, a sophomore from Waterloo, is Coe's fourth straight MVP honoree, joining Maddie Schultz who won the honor the previous three seasons. Leasure, a native of Colorado Springs, is the league's first-ever Rookie of the Year honoree. 
 
Fain was dominant in singles during her sophomore season, going a perfect 8-0 in A-R-C matches at the number one spot. Fain won all but one singles match in straight sets and capped off her fall season with a gold medal in the A Singles flight at the A-R-C Individual Tournament. Fain also earned doubles all-conference honors, posting a 5-1 record, going 1-1 at number one and 4-1 at number two. Leasure was equally dominant in singles during the conference season, going 8-0 in league matches including a 5-0 record at number two and 3-0 mark at number three. Leasure proved her prowess at the Individual Championships, securing the bronze medal in the top singles flight. She also slotted into Coe's top doubles spot, going 6-2 overall and 5-2 at the number one position as the freshmen was named to the all-conference doubles team. 
 
Hagness earned all-conference honors in singles and doubles, going 7-1 in singles and 6-1 in doubles. The sophomore played throughout the singles lineup, going 1-0 at number two, 4-0 at number three and 1-1 at number four. Hagness teamed with Leasure at the top spot in doubles, going 5-1 in league contests. Tysoe, a freshman from Sydney, Australia, was the fourth Kohawk to earn all-conference as she was selected to the doubles team. She was 6-1 in conference doubles matches, going 1-0 at the top spot and 4-1 at number two with her partner Fain.
