GAME FACTS
- The Pioneers started well, holding Coe to 3-12 shooting early on to grab the early four-point lead. Coe's quarter-ending run featured a pair of 3s as Knight and Kirkahm produced all nine points. Knight started the spurt with the first 3 before an old-fashioned 3-point play from Kirkham made it 13-11. The junior guard capped off the run before the final minute of the quarter with another 3, putting Coe up 16-11 after one. The Kohawsk immediately pushed the lead to double-digits in the second quarter, ripping off a 9-3 run to go up 25-14. Ellie Wisner cashed in a 3 a few possessions later to extend the lead and start another Coe run as the hosts ripped off a 10-2 stretch to make it 35-16 with five minutes left in the half. Grinnell fought back before the end of the half, scoring 11 of the final 12 points to cut the deficit to nine at the break. The third quarter featured back-and-forth scoring action throughout, with the teams trading blows for much of the quarter. Grinnell used a late 6-0 run to cut the deficit to single-digits again but Audrie Helmrichs scored the final bucket of the quarter to make it 58-47 before the final period. Brunson took over in the early minutes of the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of Coe's 13 points to help maintain the lead. The Kohawk defense held Grinnell to just six points in the closing four minutes of action while the second unit continued to push the lead toward the end of the game.
