FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Coe College softball team wrapped up its Spring Break trip on Friday with a pair of wins, extending its winning streak to seven games with a 3-0 shutout of Greenville and an eight-inning, 4-3 victory over Westfield State. The Kohawks benefited from a stellar pitching performance from
Ellie Thurow in game one as she tossed a one-hit shutout, tallying five strikeouts and just one hit batter.
Ruby Kappeler delivered the Kohawks' biggest offensive moment of the game, driving home two runs with a double in the third inning.
Abbie White owned the circle in game two and put together a quality outing, allowing one earned run and five hits with five strikeouts. Westfield tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with three runs in the frame but
Maggie Strupp recorded a clutch RBI single in the top of the eighth to put Coe up for good.

Game Facts
- Coe got all three of its runs in the bottom of the third, using three free passes and one hit to grab the advantage. Keera Ball, Rylee Newhard and Heather Boeckenstedt reached via a walk or hit-by-pitch to load the bases for Kappeler. Coe's center fielder then delivered the opening two runs with a clutch one-out double, driving home Ball and Newhard to make it 2-0. Madi Parson then added the contest's final run with a sacrifice fly to right, plating Boeckenstedt from third. Thurow controlled the remaining four innings, retiring the side in the fifth, sixth and seventh for her sixth victory of the year.

- Coe's offense racked up 11 hits in game two but left nine runners on base, failing to capitalize on the majority of their chances. The opening run came in the top of the first with Parson delivering a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0. The Kohawks added insurance runs in the top of the seventh, recording three hits and two runs as Heather Boeckenstedt and Skyler Stookey picked up RBI hits. Westfield State struck for three runs in the bottom of the seventh, tying the game with three hits and a crucial error with two outs. Coe managed to remain poised and avoid losing in the seventh, forcing extras with an inning-ending popout. The Kohawks took advantage of the placed runner in the top of the eighth, getting a one-out single from Maggie Strupp which scored Shaylee Dodd from third. Thurow, who faced the final few batters of the seventh, remained in the game for the eighth and worked around a one-out walk with back-to-back Ks to shut the door.
Up Next: Coe returns to the Midwest next week, taking on Bethel on Saturday, March 23 at 2 PM in St. Paul, Minnesota.
