Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men’s Tennis defeats Central & Simpson to conclude regular season

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College men's tennis team won its final two matches of the regular season on Saturday at Clark Racquet Center, defeating Central College 9-0 before an 8-1 victory over Simpson College. Coe handled business in its first match of the day, sweeping doubles competitions with a trio of 8-3 victories from Ivan Burt-Smith / Jumpei Kasai, Luke Doig / Graham Peterson and Grant Idoux / Bryton Short. The Kohawks completed the sweep in style, winning all six singles matches with four coming in straight sets. Peterson, Short, Idoux, Doig and Kasai all picked up their second wins of the match while Isaac Hinze stepped in at number five for a 6-1, 6-4 victory. The Kohawks got off to another solid start in their second match, taking a 2-1 lead after doubles thanks to wins from Luke Doig / Kohen Juelfs and Harry Hawbaker / Nils Empen. The hosts wrapped up the two-win day in singles with a clean sweep, winning all by straight sets. Doig, Juelfs and Empen went on for their second victory of the match while Short, Kasai and Bode Carter completed the sweep. 
 
Up next: Coe will return to action next week for the A-R-C tournament as the two seed, hosting a semifinal at Clark Racquet Center on Thursday, May 2 against the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between the third and fourth seed.
