Skyler Stookey joins Softball staff as top assistant

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Coe softball head coach Jake Koolbeck announced changes to his coaching staff on Wednesday, adding a new assistant coach as former coaches Ashlee Rush, Madi Miller and Natalie Blank are set to step away from the program. 2024 Kohawk Softball graduate Skyler Stookey will step in as the program's top assistant after making a major impact on the field. A four-year starter at catcher, Stookey was a two-time first team all-conference player and earned all-region honors in 2021.

"I'm excited to have Skyler join our coaching staff in a full-time role," said Koolbeck. "Skyler had a great career at Coe. She has a love for the game and Coe College that fits our culture perfectly. Skyler's passion, experience, and competitiveness will be beneficial to future success. She will bring new ideas and energy to further grow our program."

A member of the 2023 DIII World Series all-tournament team, Stookey graduated from Coe with a degree in Elementary Education and Kinesiology. In addition to her outstanding playing career, Stookey owns coaching experience, spending three years on staff at Solon High School while currently serving her first year as assist coach at Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
