CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Coe College women's soccer team suffered 2-1 defeat in its 2024 home opener on Wednesday evening, falling to the visiting Edgewood College Eagles at Clark Field. Coe got on the board first in the opening half, scoring in the 27th minute as
Eliana Manning found the back of the net. Edgewood threatened for the remainder of the half but
Lilly Monroe and the Coe defense kept the Eagles off the board. The visitors equalized in the 62nd minute, getting the tying goal on a solo effort through the midfield. The Eagles scored the game winner later in the half, taking a 2-1 lead in the 75th minute. Coe pushed for the tying goal in the final moments but the final shot of the game was saved by the Eagle keeper.

- Edgewood controlled much of the possession early in the game but Coe took advantage of its first set piece in the 27th minute. Jordan Rosas delivered the cross from a corner kick and found Manning who connected well to beat the keeper. Coe's defense stood strong for the final 20 minutes of the half with Monroe making four saves during the stretch. The visitors scored the tying goal in the 62nd minute despite strong play from Coe, striking on long shot from outside the area. The Eagles took the lead for good in the 75th, scoring the winner from just inside Coe's penalty box.
